Steve Dettman has served as the Forest Carbon Program Manager for Ecotrust since July of 2009. During his time in that position he has worked extensively on the development of protocols, projects, and policy related to carbon offset projects in forest and agricultural systems. He led the first successful double approval of a VCS AFOLU Improved Forest Management methodology (VM0003). He served on the on the Climate Action Reserve Aggregation Working Group to develop an aggregation protocol for Improved Forest Management and the Forestry Working Group for the Oregon Global Warming Commission.
Prior to his work at Ecotrust, Steve was an ecosystem services consultant based in Seattle Washington. In this capacity, he consulted with local agencies on salmon habitat restoration projects, and with MGM International, a private carbon offset project development firm, on international forest carbon projects.
Steve is a Society of American Foresters Certified Forester (CF#4019) and received his Master’s Degree in Forestry from Yale University in 2003.
