My dissertation aims at characterizing the effects of deforestation and forest degradation on forest structure and carbon cycling in tropical peatlands, in particular in northwestern Borneo. My methodology combines field sampling, remote sensing data (Landsat and Light detection and ranging), and spatial analysis (R and Python). I am broadly interested in disturbances (both natural and anthropogenic) in tropical forests; the feedback between disturbance rate, forest structure and water and carbon exchanges and the management of degraded tropical forests and tropical plantations. I am experienced in time series analysis, having processed eddy covariance data and Landsat imagery.
